The Unallome, Morjim is a project that is very close to my heart. There are two reasons for this: the first is the brief set by the client, which allowed for an organic design, and the second is because of the close friendship I share with the client. The brief was to create a space that allowed nature to speak for itself in a minimalistic way.
The space itself was heavily influenced by Goan culture, specifically the concept of susegad.
The off-white facade and pink terracotta flooring in the restaurant are just a few examples of the Goan inspiration that we incorporated into the design. Additionally, the artwork on the walls was carefully selected to further showcase the beauty of nature.
The rooms at The Unallome are truly a sight to behold. While the larger elements like the rattan bed and green louvered cabinet certainly add to the overall aesthetic, it's the smaller details that really make the space come alive. The towels draped over the bamboo staircase and the rubberwood hooks are just a few examples of small details that add an extra layer of character and earthiness to the space. In contrast, the maroon macrame and printed carpets provide a pop of color and contrast that create a beautiful balance.
However, my absolute favorite part of the property is the restaurant area. Overlooking the untouched jungle, it truly feels like you're dining in the heart of nature. The peaceful ambiance and stunning views make it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a meal.
At The Unallome, we aimed to create a space that was not only beautiful but also environmentally conscious. By incorporating natural elements and highlighting the beauty of nature, we hoped to create a space that truly inspires and connects with people. Overall, it was an absolute pleasure working on this project and bringing our client's vision to life.
